Liku Liku Resort and Spa

I have finally arrived at Liku Liku Resort & Spa, Fiji's first resort to offer Overwater Bungalows (Bures). My intial review here is short and sweet. First, the warm Fijian greeting that is received upon arrival with the frisky BULA SONG. My seaplane landed offshore and a boat picked me up and took me to the "island" reception with song and refreshment and a meandering stroll on the teak walkway to the main reception area. My overwater bure awaited with rich dark woods, stunning views of other Mamanuca islands and the deep bathtub right next to the window in the bathroom, windows opened wide and ready for me to draw a bath (which I did). After a 2 hours massage and hot stone treatment, it was nap time and then a sumptuous dinner in the well designed comfortable dining room. Earlier we had broadcast live on 2 radio shows in Hawaii while talking to the Executive Chef, Spa Director, Resort General Manager and Director of Sales. All of this while sipping on champagne and watching the 10 different blues of the ocean swirl in front of us.
Okay, back to experiencing the resort. More to report later and pictures to post.

Wakaya: Fiji Heavenly Travel Experience

I arrived in the Fiji Islands this morning to the familiar smell that transports me back to my first trip to these dreamy islands in 1986. I was soon escorted to Wakaya's private plane for a 45 minute flight over land and sea as the sun rose, misty mountains came alive and a myriad of islands dotted the horizon for as far as I could see. As we approached the inviting green gem of an island called Wakaya, the shimmering turquoise shallows of the reef dazzled my eyes.

It’s a stunning day.. I almost cried today, as being back in Fiji is like coming home to the most intimate of lovers. I have been here more than 30 times and have experienced so much over the years, from one tip of the country to the other, that no other knows me as well as "my Fiji"and I know no other better than this eclectic enchanting country. With the friendliest people on the planet, some of the worlds best scuba diving and 300+ islands that call your name, the Fiji Islands spin their web of magic around me like a cocoon.

Wakaya Resort & Spa stands alone as the most exclusive resort in all of Fiji. Famous for rock stars falling out of coconut trees and the top computer guy in the world honeymooning here... much happens here that we will never know about. What I can tell you is the food and service is unsurpassed. Here is what has happened to me today...

Champagne upon arrival in my "Bure" (bungalow). A little morning champagne goes a long way to cause exclamations of glee and gratitude for being alive. I grabbed the camera and off I went documenting the beauty. Then a sumptuous breakfast on the outdoor deck, a facial that transported me to heaven for 80 minutes "performed" by Manu who is now my favorite spa professional in all of Fiji. After a brief nap it was time to lunch on the outdoor deck again with the Island Manager. BBQ of lobster, shrimp and vegies and a fabulous soup and mango cheese cake. WOW is all I can say. More napping and then an 80 minute massage. The new Massage Bure here is a stones throw from the water and the sound of the waves lapping on the shore and the purposeful ambiance of the Spa makes the experience worthy of every praise.

Tonight we dine with the Managers of the resort. Tomorrow I'll enjoy diving in the AM (hope to see blue ribbon eels and/or Manta rays) and then a private beach champagne/lobster picnic on one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Fiji. And, most private.

I'll be posting pictures soon. See you tomorrow.
